SMEG retro oven combines Victorian elegance with modern convenience

SMEG, the company famous for its fabulous retro fridges, has recently released a vintage style freestanding oven in Australia.

Directly inspired by kitchen icons of the 1920s, the SMEG Victoria is the perfect cooker for anyone who wants to create a look inside their kitchen that is elegant and unique.

But not only does the SMEG Victoria look beautiful, it features state-of-the-art cooking technology – combining vintage style with modern-day convenience.

Measuring 110cm in width, this SMEG cooker is the perfect investment for anyone who adores cooking. Multiple dishes are easy to prepare with the seven gas cooking zones (including a high-power wok burner), and the double oven configuration will provide the ultimate in cooking versatility. Imagine being able to cook a roast in the main oven, while a chocolate pudding bubbles away in the other! You can also use the auxiliary oven as a place to keep your plates and side dishes warm.

Each oven has a roomy 68 litre capacity, and six cooking functions including: Eco Fan-Forced Baking, Convection, a Baker’s Function, and an electric grill. Both ovens reach full heat within ten minutes and deliver accurate and consistent temperatures – completely taking the guesswork out of cooking.

Additionally, the side-opening door design is ergonomic and convenient. And for people who love pizza, an integrated SMEG pizza stone profile has been built into the base of each oven (the pizza stone is an optional extra). Fully automatic baking and an LED electronic clock/timer complete the package.

Meanwhile, the seven-zone gas hob features an ultra powerful wok burner, and each burner has been fitted with a flame failure device for maximum safety. Even better, a Teppanyaki plate can be placed over two of the burners to create a high-heat griddle for meat, seafood and vegetables.

And as for cleaning up? Too easy! The oven interiors of the SMEG Victoria are finished with an Ever-Clean enamel surface, which means they’re super smooth and easy to wipe down. This, combined with SMEG’s unique Vapour Clean function (which uses hot steam to soften and loosen food residues inside the oven) makes cleaning a breeze. Plus the triple-glazed doors feature removable glass.

Available in glossy black and cream, the Victoria (TRA4110) retails for $7,990 and is available from Winning Appliances stores.

Brought this oven a year ago, What a waste of money! looks great and the gas top is fine but apart from that………every time you open the door when the oven is in operation, masses of steam gush out, (i have never had this with any other oven not sure why), the condensation from all of this steam drips down off the door and makes a puddle underneath the drawer (which should be and isn’t a warming drawer i might add), there seems to be a problem with the right hand oven bottom heating element (wont heat oven above 170 deg on fan bake setting), fan in right hand oven has developed a slight rattle noise about 50% of the time its on, when either grill or left hand oven is used there is a rattle from the back cover caused by the fan that extracts the hot air (the one that runs for around 15 minutes after over is switched off).
typically italian in that it looks great but is rubbish, could have brought a far better performing oven for half the price……rant over
